This painting is a homage to Vincent Van Gogh, and is based on his series of Iris paintings. In May 1889, after he famously cut off his ear, Vincent van Gogh voluntarily chose to enter an asylum in France. Inspired by the asylum's garden, within his first week he began painting Irises. In this painting we will explore the cropped composition and vivid colours of the original.
