Here at Paintvine, we have a special place in our hearts for Van Gogh’s The Starry Night. In fact, we love it so much that we’ve created five paintings inspired by the swirling brilliance of this iconic masterpiece. Each one is our own tribute to Van Gogh’s mesmerising vision of the night sky. So, when we found out that MoMA had created a 3D image of The Starry Night, we just had to share it with you!
When MoMA closed for a major expansion in 2019, it gave the museum’s Imaging and Visual Resources (IVR) team a rare chance to photograph the painting while it was off display. Typically, The Starry Night is on view year-round, leaving little room for capturing the detailed images that artworks of this caliber deserve. But during this brief window, the IVR team captured something truly special - a 3D model of Van Gogh’s masterpiece.
This digital rendering allows art lovers to explore The Starry Night in a way that feels almost as magical as seeing it in person. Every brushstroke and texture of Van Gogh's dynamic painting is revealed in stunning detail, offering a glimpse of the artist's process and technique like never before.
If you’re as obsessed with Van Gogh’s masterpiece as we are, you’ll love exploring MoMA's 3D image of The Starry Night. Take a virtual journey through the vibrant swirls and textures that make this painting so unforgettable by viewing the 3D model here.
