The Redoubt Bar & Eatery was born in June 2006 after Jacob and Kelly Henderson had served their ‘apprenticeship’ by leasing The Redoubt in Te Awamutu for three years previously. They identified a need in Matamata for a dynamic, community focused bar and eatery in this thriving town.
On the back of strong local support, a popular stopping point for travellers and Hobbiton tourists, The Redoubt has established itself as a “must” for those in Matamata. With walls displaying local Matamata happenings, heroes and villains it provides a comfortable ‘At your mate’s place’ feel.
With an ever-changing seasonal menu and full menu available all day, you will be satisfied. The thirsty can enjoy a range of New Zealand wines, fantastic tap beers, including the Monteiths range and international favourite Heineken to general manager Clifford Williams’ (the only Jamaican in Matamata) personally selected cocktail list.
